BabyTV is a Fox International Channel created for infants, toddlers and parents; built around nine developmental themes:
- Activities
- Bedtime
- Building Friendships
- First Baby Songs
- First Concepts
- Guessing Games
- Imagination & Creativity
- Music & Art
- Natural & Animals
BabyTV has moved their bright, beautiful and play & learning characters to the iPhone & iPad! This is great for parents on the go, but it's also a wonderful App for parents who stay at home - like me! My tot is 3 and all his favorite shows are learning shows, the more vivid the better. He loves to count things and he gets really excited to see characters that he can recognize from elsewhere, so it was a great fit! Most children are the same, it's comforting to notice things they recognize which is why a lot of children repeat things or watch shows continuously over and over. BabyTV had tailored their Apps specifically for the Mobile with short form content, a library of their popular song clips, dialtones, ringtones and a range of other great unique applications.
We went out for pizza one afternoon, just Judah and I. He is something else when you want him to sit still and most of the time if you try he will then start to mope and think we're upset at him. So instead of bothering myself with him being sad and/or trying to pull him away from drumming on everyone's chairs, I just thought I'd see if BabyTV Mobile could still him for me and it worked!
There are options on the Screen for Downloading, My Library (for those that you have Downloaded) and Settings (which will allow you to switch between 10 different Languages!).
On the Download Screen you can choose which Mini show you want to watch and then it will be set in your Library for later so you won't have to worry about re-downloading it.
Then you can watch your show, which I must say that these characters are some of the brightest most attractive characters for a baby/toddler channel. They're also very modern. I've watched a lot of infant/toddler television programs and most of them (especially the ones which co-show with international programs) seem a little outdated. BabyTV seems more for the modern parent. What I love most about BabyTV is that it's tailored for children my sons age and younger, co-created by Developmental Experts that understand what we want in television programming for our little ones and it's not completely bombarded every few seconds with commercials. It's a break, as it were, especially on the Mobile.
Learning should be fun and I support television programming and Applications that give our youngest a desire to learn, feel accomplished when he figures something out and instill in him the basics of education alongside of our own developmental teaching. Learning something new, from the ABC's to how to Cook with Mommy, should be exciting, entertaining and full of smiles and programs like BabyTV push forward into this digital era with the same ideals as we do. I really enjoyed their Mobile App, I like the comfort of having it handy and also the Library so I don't have to search very long. It's tot friendly so he can find them himself and also choose which one he wants to watch at any given time. It's certainly worth it if you have an over-active child who doesn't want to sit still while you are out - dining or appointments or otherwise. And really... it can also be embedded into your day where instead of turning on a T.V. and just watching, you can join your child with your iPhone or your iPad and interact - making it a part of your everyday lessons.
