One of the most popular gifts to give and receive is a Gift Card. In fact it is ranked the most wanted gift by women and the second most given-gift by consumers in the United States. It is, in fact, a $100,000,000,000 industry - and why? Because it does something no other gift can do (without a receipt for return), it provides you with Choice.

There's always been some argument that Gift Cards are somewhat impersonal, but I've never believed that. On my 30th birthday when I was down in the dumps for having to leave my 20s, feeling awfully old and sad, my husband had given me a Gift Card to Forever 21. Tucked away with it was a Gift Card for a restaurant that said, "Would you go out with me?" Complete with Yes, Maybe and No checked boxes. (I checked Maybe.) It was perfect, sentimental, lovely in the way he found the perfect gift to say, "You will always be beautiful." And because we're parents of a 3 year old and rarely get out, it worked best to have a gift card to a restaurant so we could choose the time in which we went; on a day we knew we could go. Could you imagine getting tickets to a movie at a specific time instead of someone handing you a Fandango Card? Gift Cards carry with them a sense of Freedom, that same Freedom that is felt when someone says, "Pick out anything you want in the whole store! It's your day!" 


Gift Cards Rock isn't a place to purchase Gift Cards, it is a place to come together in the love of one of the most entertaining gifts one can possibly give and that comes with it stories of all shapes and sizes. Applebees Homemade Calendar:

Use a magnetic dry/erase calendar and attach a wooden picture frame. Cut your own wooden pieces or use popsicle sticks (You can buy pieces at a hobby store too). Paint pieces with vibrant colors - you can paint the frame with magnetic paint (to store pieces on frame you can also use a drawstring bag and connect to the frame). Add an Applebee’s gift card and plan a night out with the girls, guys or family!

You can create the calendar and use it as a count down for good behavior, for completing a difficult task, to look forward to the next Family or Date Night!  They have a few other really great ideas about how you can really dress up your Gift Cards and I'm sure they would love to hear what imaginative things you might come up with!

Gift Cards Rock is a great idea. There's something fun about giving and receiving Gift Cards, about collecting them in your Wallet and trying to make them last as long as possible. They give off a glow of being special, of being thought of and of being capable of picking out exactly what you wanted and Gift Cards Rock is for sharing the fun and the experience of it... or maybe finding a giveaway to try and snag another.

Valentine's is coming up and there is one gift that I think tops most all gifts out there and that is a Couples Spa Day.
