Convert your kids existing laces to NO-TIE laces!

Are you constantly tying your toddler’s shoelaces? Do you worry about the safety hazard of laces that come untied? Or are you tired of being limited to Velcro shoes, only to have the Velcro not stick when it gets dirty?
You now have a choice. We have developed a product designed for kids before they are able to master the skill of tying their own shoelaces.

Rachel had written a wonderful review of 1-2-3 Shoe Buddies and now they’ve graciously offered to host a giveaway of one set of 1-2-3 Shoe Buddies for our Back-to-School Event!
1-2-3 Shoe Buddies is a lacing secure system that offers the chance for Toddlers to learn how to tie their shoes with less coordination. It’s a great way to teach your children how to put on their shoes and tie them. They come in all different shapes and styles, monsters and tractors and robots and more! I love them. You are sure to find a design that your child will absolutely love!
You can purchase a set of Shoe Buddies for $7.99 and get Free Shipping by using the code: inRandom until Monday, September 5th.

I was not given a product for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions expressed are my own or my families and are not influenced by any form of compensation.

How To Save on School Supplies

Tips to keep in mind for your back-to-school shopping

Take advantage of tax-free weekends
During one weekend in August, States offer this shopping perk. Back-to-school items, like backpacks and footwear, are tax-free. Check the list of Tax-Free Shopping Days for your state.

Wait for discounts

Typically in mid-August you can find big markdowns on clothing, electronics, and shoes. You can save up to 40 to 50 percent in stores and 20 to 25 percent online with retailers.

Buy a backpack with a warranty

Your kids backpacks can really take a beating so you may want to think about purchasing your child’s backpack from a reputable company that offers guarantees on it’s merchandise. Check out companies like L.L Bean, REI, or the North Face.

Ask for a student discount on software
You can show a valid K–12 or college ID at tech stores or send a copy via e-mail or fax to sites like academicsuperstore.com or journeyed.com and you could get up to 80 percent off your purchase.

Buy school supplies at warehouse or big-box retailers
You can find prices much lower than at supermarkets and drugstores.

Back to School Money Saving Tips

1. Shop on Tax-Free Days
Local governments are offering sales Tax-Free Shopping Days so check the list and make sure to mark your calendars!

2. Follow Your Favorite Stores
You will start to see Back-to-school clothing sales appearing in mid-July through the end of August. There are lots of coupons out there and the easiest way fir keeping track of your favorite retailers’ deals is by following them on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Then use those coupons in conjunction with sales to get the most savings.

3. Shop at Consignment Sales
Look for group consignment sales in your area. These sales, which are usually held over a weekend, bring together multiple consigners’ items under one roof. Check out the national directory of consignment sales to find stores in your area.

4. Go Green for Lunch
When packing lunches, think reusable. Washable sandwich bags, lunch cubes and real spoons from your utensil drawer are initial investment but will save money on plastic bags in the long run and are a great green alternative.

This is also a great time to get your kid’s involved in learning the basics of budgeting. An idea would be to give your children a clothing budget and a list of necessities, and let them help make decisions on the rest of the wardrobe. This can also works with extra-curricular activities. Does it cost $50 to join the drama club? Varsity basketball uniforms and fees are $150? If so, then they need to know that their activity of choice is not only a time commitment, but a financial commitment.

We would love for everyone to share their comments for other Back-to-School saving ideas.
